JOB TITLE Shift Leader 

REPORTS TO  Store Manager


HOURS Full time (5 days, 40+ hours per week, open and flexible availability required) 


The Shift Leader is responsible for exemplifying and upholding the mission, values, and standards of Alpine Modern. They are directly responsible for the successful and smooth operation of shifts. This includes ensuring the execution of world-class guest service, environment, food and beverage.  

Preference is given to those that have experience as a barista. 


  • Appropriately models 
    • Connecting with customers 
    • Upholding exceptional food and beverage quality standards
  • Knows and enforces all Alpine Modern standards, practices and policies at all times
  • Is trained and capable of working all positions within the Cafe 
  • Executes administrative duties associated with supervising the store as directed by the Store Manager
  • Maintains excellent and thorough communication with the Store Manager and team
  • Anticipates and responds to store needs by continually evaluating the store environment 
  • Responds to customer inquiries and issues 
  • Is responsible for training staff as directed by the Store Manager
  • Assists with the rollout of new drinks, procedures and processes  

Staff Supervision 

  • Holds team members accountable to the standards set by Alpine Modern 
  • Is able to coach team members with respect and positive encouragement 
  • Fosters a positive work environment where all staff members are empowered to succeed


  • Ensures recipes are made to standards
  • Ensures product quality remains exceedingly high
  • Maintains and enforces the highest standards of food safety
  • Actively controls food and beverage waste 
  • As directed, assists with new product rollout

Inventory, Ordering and Purveyor Management 

  • May be assigned inventory and ordering responsibilities

Store Environment 

  • Maintains and enforces exacting standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the facility 
  • Ensures store environment is to standards. This includes actively managing factors like
  • Temperature, lighting and music selection.
