Courier / Nursery Warehouse Assistant

Full-time

Pistils Nursery is seeking a Courier / Warehouse Assistant to work closely with the Warehouse and Shop Managers to distribute inventory between the warehouse and retail stores, based on the needs of each location. Other responsibilities include assisting receiving deliveries at the warehouse, processing/pricing inventory,  organizing backstock, caring for plant material and housekeeping.

Responsibilities also include make plant deliveries to customers as needed, assisting with Spaces installations, making inventory picks up/drop offs, and picking up plants from various locations including the market and airport. 

Areas of Responsibility

  • Transfer inventory between retail stores, following transfer requests / plant lists generated by Shop Managers using company Sprinter van. Assist Retail Team in organizing delivered inventory at retail stores 
  • Assist in receiving, processing and organizing inventory stored at warehouse
  • Assist breaking down and disposing of pallets and shipping materials as needed. Bring waste that cannot be disposed of in city recycling/trash to appropriate recycling centers
  • Pick up, deliver and assist in processing plant shipments 
  • Pick up and deliver inventory from local vendors as needed
  • Organize and consolidate warehouse inventory as needed.
  • Assist with deliveries / installations as needed; provides exemplary customer service and professionalism when interfacing with customers
  • Follow tasks delegated by Warehouse Manager, which may include cleaning/housekeeping, pricing, processing, plant care, etc
  • Assist in special projects

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Exceptionally safe driver; experience driving Sprinter or other large vehicle
  • Experience loading, unloading and processing inventory; ability to lift 50lbs, comfortable using equipment such as a hand truck and pallet jack to move large product
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to operate equipment such as pallet jack
  • Excitement to work in a growing business environment with potential for frequent changes

Fulfillment Team Member (eCommerce / Shipping department)

Part-time

Pistils Nursery is seeking a Fulfillment Team Member to support our growing eCommerce operation. This position is primarily responsible for fulfilling online orders from our complex and ever-changing inventory, which includes specialty and perishable items such as hand-made pottery and live plants. 

Areas of Responsibility

  • Meets monthly Growth, Efficiency and Productivity benchmarks 
  • Assists eCommerce team in order processing and fulfillment, prioritizing orders as directed by Lead, and packing shipments following best practices for safe and inexpensive shipments for our complex and ever-changing inventory.
  • Follows direction of Lead, working from pick lists, staging orders, watering and otherwise readying plant material for shipping and branding packing materials
  • Adheres to quality control standards, ensuring that all items and plants are clean and in sale-worthy condition prior to shipping. Ensures each box has been appropriately branded, and stamped as “fragile” or “contains live plants” as necessary.
  • Assists production team in maintaining stock of batched  products / kit components as needed
  • Keeps shipping station organized, tidy and accessible, cleaning as directed after each shift
  • Works closely with Lead, Customer Experience Coordinator and Brand Director to respond to changes to orders as they arise, troubleshoot shipping issues and alter practices as needed
  • Makes suggestions to improve shipping practices 
  • Assists in maintaining web shop inventory, alerting Lead and Warehouse Manager when stock levels are low, and pulling product from retail inventories as needed
  • Works quickly and efficiently to meet fulfillment benchmarks without sacrificing work quality and attention to detail
  • Appropriately cares for plant material prior to shipping
  • Cross-trained in shipping; supports eCommerce operations as needed
  • Assists in special projects as needed

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years of experience in eCommerce / fulfillment and shipping
  • Plant knowledge strongly preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with eCommerce and shipping software solutions (Shopify and Shipstation)
  • Excitement to work in a growing business environment with potential for frequent changes and ambiguity
  • Comfort working both independently and with a small team
  • Ability to prioritize while multitasking, balancing productivity with high quality of work 
  • Detail and process-oriented. Excellent organizational skills 
  • Comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines and goals
  • Comfort being on feet and engaging in physical tasks for majority of the work day
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb

Nursery Warehouse Manager

Full-time

Pistils Nursery is seeking a highly qualified Nursery Warehouse Manager, responsible for leading day-to-day warehouse operations. This includes coordinating, receiving  and processing deliveries; organizing the storage of plants and hardgood backstock; facilitating the distribution of goods across 2 retail locations and online shop; and cleaning. Warehouse operations are supported by the Courier / Warehouse Assistant.

Upon receiving deliveries, the warehouse manager works in conjunction with the Shop and Web Managers to receive inventory into the point of sale and fulfill inventory transfer requests.  The warehouse manager oversees the care and maintenance of Pistils’ plant backstock, with the support of the Production Team. 

Areas of Responsibility

  • Develop highly organized warehouse floor plan for the storage of hardgood and plant inventory; Assemble and reorganize shelving/storage etc. as needed
  • Coordinate product flow to drive efficient processes of receiving, storing, and distribution
  • Communicate with Shop and Web Managers on daily operations and materials needs 
  • Review and manage incoming deliveries with Shop Managers;  schedule/coordinate deliveries as needed with drivers
  • Receive shipments into retail POS / web shop admin; price material as needed
  • Check deliveries against purchase orders to ensure orders are accurate; report any discrepancies relevant buyer. Document damaged product and forward to buyer
  • Work with Courier / Warehouse Asst. to fulfill transfer requests from retail stores
  • Primary person responsible for restocking and maintaining web shop inventory, with the support of Web Team.
  • Assist with special projects 
  • Maintain an organized, secure and clean warehouse 
  • Cultivate a positive team dynamic that encourages all employees to provide feedback and drive change from within, adapt to the ever-changing business, and stay focused on the customer experience 
  • Follow OSHA compliant practices 
  • Complete cleaning tasks, including but not limited to: removal of trash/recycling/compost, sweeping/mopping, cleaning of farm sink.
  • Makes deliveries (to retail stores, etc) as needed

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • 1+ years as a Warehouse/Fulfillment Supervisor 
  • Prior experience in a retail/direct to consumer product setting
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable using equipment such as a hand truck and pallet jack to move large product
  • Excitement to work in a growing business environment with potential for frequent changes and ambiguity
  • Driver's license, and clean driving record. Experience driving a Sprinter van or large vehicle preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google apps (Gmail, drive, sheets, etc.) 
  • Highly organized; keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and manipulate numbers with ease (for inventory management purposes)
