Billing & Revenue Cycle Assistant

Job Purpose

This position will assist the Billing and Revenue Cycle coordinator with billing and A/R duties.   Work directly with the insurance company, program team, and client to get a claim processed and paid. Miscellaneous duties include refund processing, customer/patient billing calls, patient statements, and billing requests. 

Billing & Credentialing Specialist Roles and Responsibilities

Billing:

·  Medical billing support to third-party billing partner

·  Work directly with the insurance companies

·  Review and appeal unpaid and/or denied claims

·  Communicate insurance payment and claim status to the Accounting Manager

·  Answer patient billing questions specific to insurance-based payments and claims

  • Make necessary arrangements for records requests, completion of additional information request, etc. as requested by insurance companies or program team
  • Some exposure to credentialing and contracting, but not mandatory

Other Accounting Related:

·  Generate AR and billing reports as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

·  Minimum 1 year experience in  insurance billing and A/R.   Must have a basic understanding of the medical billing and collections process.

·  Familiar with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.

·  Experience working collaboratively with related professionals and providers

·  Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and staff members

·  Demonstrate excellent time-management and multi-tasking skills

·  Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards (in accordance with HIPPA standards)

·  Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Central Reach.  Must have familiarity with various practice management software.

Experience:

·  Medical Billing: 1 years (Required)

Education:

·  Min. Associates Degree (Preferred), but not required.

·  Must have a High School Diploma

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.

  • Direct and ongoing oversight for administration of contrast material.Assessment and emergency medical treatment of any adverse reactions that occur while providing direct oversight.

  • Oversight of storage and ordering of contrast material and emergency medications.

Controller creates and holds department heads accountable for budgets and key metrics; makes sure all financial functions are like clockwork; provides management real-time visibility into key business performance metrics.  CPA is preferred but not required. 

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in development and support of company strategic goals

Who You Are:

  • Will have five or more years in a controller position in a sub-$100 million company. 
  • Have two or more years in a health-services company. 
  • You have experience managing AR, AP, PR, FA and GL functions and closing books monthly and at year-end. 
  • At minimum, two or more years successfully operating within a very fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience with QuickBooks SW and at least one other higher-level Accounting package (e.g., Great Plains Dynamics, Navision, Sage, Intacct, etc.)
