General Ledger Accountant

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions and tasks related to the general ledger system, including preparing journal entries, reconciling financial statements and accounts, bank statements, and ensuring data accuracy. The General Ledger Accountant performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions with significant focus on General Ledger accounting. This position is also responsible for supporting key activities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end and year-end close.

  • Perform month-end account closing activities and reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries for accruals and      variances
  • Generate financial statements
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform accounting analysis for accruals, account payables, account receivables, and reconciliations
  • Perform month-end account closing activities and reconciliations
  • Assist various departments in accounting issues and queries
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and revenue accounts
  • Review financial reports to identify and explain variances
  • Adhere to standard accounting principles and company procedures

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and terminology
  • Advanced Excel skills (Vlookup, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to resolve complex problems with multiple variables
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with Intacct and/or QuickBooks a plus

Preferred Experience:

  • Years of general ledger experience – 3+
  • Years of general accounting experience – 5+
  • CPA, a plus
  • BS/BA Accounting, a plus
  • Fast-paced company
